Beyond the Black River is one of the original stories about Conan the Cimmerian (Conan The Barbarian), written by pulp author Robert E. Howard, the writer to whom the "Sword and Sorcery" genre is usually credited, and first published in Weird Tales magazine. Considered by many to be the best Conan story, It is set in the mythical Hyborian Age and features Conan fighting the savage Picts in unsettled lands beyond the Black River.
