This 1-volume civil law reference is an essential guide to statutory time limitations contained in the various Statutes of Ontario and the Ontario Rules of Court for the commencing of an action, the bringing of an appeal and the instituting of various other proceedings and prosecutions.

Unique Organization

Two discrete sections help you to quickly and easily identify the applicable time limitation prescribed for commencing a prosecution, making a complaint, instituting a proceeding, suit, etc.

a) Annotated Ontario Limitations Act, 2002 and Real Property Limitations Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. L15 - for ease of reference and quick access, the volume contains a fully annotated version of the complete Limitations Act, 2002 and Real Property Limitations Act

b) Limitation Periods by Subject - covering topics ranging from "Aboriginal Law" to "Wills, Estates and Trusts Law", the subject index identifies the specific matter and issue, the applicable time period, and the time from which the period begins to run. Organized according to the LexisNexis Classification System, the index follows a simple-to-use format with topics organized alphabetically by subject area

Legislation

Each limitation period entry consists of:

  • Transitional Rules Chart indicating whether the Limitations Act, 2002 or the Limitations Act, R.S.O 1990 applies to a proceeding
  • A keyword paragraph based on the LexisNexis Classification System - allows you to identify the matter, the relevant time period, and when the time period begins, all at a glance
  • A reproduction of the relevant sections or parts of sections of the governing legislation applicable to the topic, in a readily accessible format
  • Additional sections or parts of sections where relevant - provides you with additional meaning or context
  • Case digests referencing and/or interpreting the statutory provision - provides you with insight as to a sections' application

    PLUS: Quicklaw® Citations

Includes case references which consist of both the hard copy citation and the Quicklaw citation. To help better enhance your research, you'll now be able to identify and obtain the full text of decisions relevant to your particular case.
