'Phemie Frost's Experiences' is a novel written by Ann S. Stephens. The story follows a young woman as she decides to set out on a mission to a city where there is a lot of sin and iniquity going on. Her society is helping to finance her mission and she is going by both land and water. Before she leaves, there is a farewell party and prayer meeting where the president of the society gives a powerful speech. The young woman feels the weight of the responsibility and danger of going out into the world alone, but she is firm in her resolve.
