A meagre holiday on the coast of England for Minette, Edgar and their two daughters creates time for Minette to dwell on the state of her marriage and her husband's cruel demeanour – he brightens only when a silent gust of wind blows open the door, providing the chance for him to scare his family with talk of an invisible stranger, a man with no eyes.
