The Queen was right

Advertising The Year in Review • Almost universally, advertising photographers have found the last year to be challenging, to survive both financially and creatively. But surprisingly, a lot of good came out of 2020 as well. Here is that story, told by photographers and agency creatives who conquered it. Candide McDonald reports.

Editorial The Year in Review • It’s difficult to think of a year in recent times more eventful and more tumultuous for photojournalism and editorial photography. Especially in Australia. How have photojournalists worked through a most challenging time? Sam Edmonds reports.

Wedding & Portrait The Year in Review • In March this year, weddings were being postponed or cancelled across the world. And portrait sessions became impossible as people were confined to their own homes. This didn’t just last for weeks. It was months before we all emerged from isolation. To describe the situation as ‘challenging’ hardly comes close to encapsulating just how difficult a time it’s been for wedding and portrait photographers. But, many mustered new resources, found new attitudes, and dusted off dormant skills. Candide McDonald reports.
