We normally are inclined to think that death is the end - an unavoidable and imposed ending with no other option. However, in the case of David, this is only the beginning because shortly after dying he does not find the emptiness that he always figured existed. Rather, he only observes an old man who makes him a unique proposal: the stranger will let David choose his path beyond death if David is capable of telling him what has been the biggest mistake of his life - the error from which all other mistakes have emanated. David decides to narrate to his journey through the world, during which he discovers little by little that sometimes nothing is what it appears, not even death.

Poco antes de morir, David debe encontrar el error trágico de su vida para poder seguir su viaje al otro mundo. Pero, pronto, al rememorar su existencia, descubrirá que nada es lo que parece, ni siquiera la muerte.

Normalmente tendemos a pensar que la muerte es un final. Un final irremediable, impuesto y ante el cual no existe ninguna opción. Sin embargo, en el caso de David, esto solo es un comienzo porque poco después de morir no encuentra el vacío que siempre pensó. Al contrario, solo observa a un anciano que le hace una singular propuesta: le permitirá elegir el camino a seguir más allá de la muerte si es capaz de decirle cuál ha sido el mayor error de toda su vida, ese error del que todos sus demás errores derivan. David decide, entonces, narrarle su paso por el mundo.
