Chapters 5, 6 and 6A of the Law of Life and Health Insurance feature an annotated life insurance policy, an annotated health insurance policy, and an annotated group health insurance policy.

Chapter 5 Annotated Life Insurance Policy discusses the problem of rights under a typical life insurance contracts. After a brief look at some general principals, a typical whole life and a typical term policy are presented and dissected, section by section, looking at the language, the underlying statutes and the judicial reactions to previous disputes under similar provisions.

Chapter 6 Annotated Health Insurance Policy addresses a section by section analysis of a typical disability policy, followed by consideration of the special problems of hospitalization, medical expense insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage.

Chapter 6A Annotated Group Health Insurance Policy discusses the adoption of the 2010 Health Care Reform Act and the fundamental changes to the way health insurance is written and administered. This chapter, after a Preliminary Note on the New Health Insurance Structure Mandated by the 2010 Health Care Reform Act, presents a clause by clause analysis of a group medical expense insurance policy, which includes hospital benefits. The policy considered in this chapter is a group insurance policy, but the hospitalization and major medical benefit provisions are similar to those in an individual policy.
