EXCERPTS
Smile
Smiles of joy in the present moment
Smile through tears for the times of disappointment
I ask "Why?" Yet, not understanding the answer.
Your leaving hurt, yet I must cope and feel better.
And so, every day I must remember to smile.
I remember the good memories and I smile.
But even when I'm not thinking about those good times, every day moment-by-moment
I create good times.
And I smile.
Lisa
Hey! So, my name is Lisa Beth Rojas.
My best friends, Tracy and Julia, sometimes like to call me "Tantrum Lisa." And that's because I get angry quite a bit.
Some of the kids liked to pick on me and teased me during recess in school when I was in first grade. That really sucked. I didn't know how to respond to them so I just got angry all the time. And I guess it became sort of a bad habit to get frustrated and angry about things quickly before trying to think them through first.
Anyway, I live three blocks away from Julia and Tracy.
My family used to live in the next town, Canton, 20 minutes away from Austin. We'd come over to Austin a lot. And my mom used to bring me over to the playground to play with Tracy and Julia.
Tracy's parents told my mom that the school where Julia and Tracy went to was a really good school. So we moved to Austin when I finished first grade.
I'm sportsy and I play senior (tackle) football. I've played in the Austin County Youth Football League for three years now. Besides that, I like helping people and I'm generous. Oh! And I am working on my anger thing!
"Tweens: Julia, Tracy and Lisa Pages From Our Dairies" is an excellent, fun book for tweens, middle schoolers and pre-teen to learn and feel more comfortable about puberty, ways to understanding their feelings positively and have fun with Tracy, Julia and Lisa sharing friendship and pages from their diaries.
