Florida Det. Ed Lucas is obsessively tracking the serial killer known as Mechanic when his world is suddenly shattered. Unable to continue the hunt, he is forced to rely on his friend and colleague Dick Harper. Harper doesn't disappoint—but he doesn't play by the rules either.

Meanwhile, Det. Rebecca Moran of the LVPD is trying to piece her life back together after her own disturbing encounter with Mechanic. But when the Las Vegas police stumble across dangerous new evidence, they are suddenly much closer to Mechanic than they realize—which puts Moran right in Mechanic's crosshairs.
