"Aria da Capo" by Edna St. Vincent Millay is a play that opens up with an introduction to its characters Pierrot and Columbine on stage as they perform a harlequin act. When Cothurnus arrives and begins to change the performance, he clears the stars and instead brings out Thyrsis and Corydon, two shepherds who are ignorant and naive to the ways of the world, to perform their own act where they play rivals. As the performance carries on, they go from friends to enemies and bring about each other's demise.
