The Conduct of Civil Litigation in British Columbia is unique amongst Canadian text books on civil procedure. It is a narrative text, with each chapter devoted to a discrete topic of civil practice and procedure, as opposed to a commentary on individual Rules of Court. It has been relied upon by a generation of litigators for its succinct distillation of key legal and practice points.

The new edition retains the chronological organization that guides the user through the various steps of a civil litigation action. Volume 1 of the service canvasses the commonly encountered issues that litigators deal with on a daily basis - from choice of procedure and of parties, through pleadings and the discovery process to trial and judgment, and then to costs and enforcement of judgments. Volume 2 deals with the less common procedures and special issues, including joinder of third parties, special procedures relating to parties such as minors, jury trials and foreclosures ending with practice in the Court of Appeal.
