"The world belongs to me and to everyone else.

It belongs to all the children, as well as to myself.

Each and every child is an entire universe of things,

with different thoughts, dreams and feelings they bring.

I did not choose who my parents would be,

nor did I choose the day I'd be born me.

I did not choose the name I was given,

nor was I part of anything about that decision.

I did not choose who my siblings would be,

or the color of my hair or eyes actually.

In fact, I had no part of entering into this world,

or of anything else before that which occurred.

However, I can choose my friends and what to say,

I can choose how to behave each and every day.

I can choose to do my homework if and when I please,

I can choose to give even if I don't always receive..."
